The Salt Fork High School gym floor will soon bear the name Lou Hinkle Court, a tribute approved unanimously by the school board.
A Lasting Legacy
Lou Hinkle spent almost 28 years as an assistant coach, guiding the team to its lone state basketball title in the 2009‑10 season.
Family members, including his wife Laurie and daughter Lacey, were present for the vote, highlighting the personal connection to the decision.
Superintendent Phil Cox emphasized Hinkle’s passion for student‑athletes, recalling his return to the bench on Senior Night despite battling cancer.
An official dedication ceremony is slated before the 2026‑27 season, ensuring that Hinkle’s contributions remain a part of the school’s history.
