Kyle Busch, a two‑time NASCAR Cup Series champion and one of the most decorated drivers in the sport’s history, died on May 21 after a battle with pneumonia that escalated into sepsis, a complication that led to disseminated intravascular coagulation. He had been competing in the 2023 season with Richard Childress Racing, finishing 24th in the standings and posting a best result of eighth at Watkins Glen International just days before his final race.
