Samet Yigitoglu, a 7‑foot‑2 center whose wingspan rivals that of many NBA prospects, has officially joined the Indiana Hoosiers basketball program after completing two seasons at Southern Methodist University. Standing 270 pounds, he brings a blend of size and skill that could reshape the Hoosiers’ frontcourt.
A New Dimension for Indiana
During his sophomore year at SMU, Yigitoglu posted averages of 10.7 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting a career‑high 62.8 percent from the field, a marked improvement over his freshman 53.5 percent clip. His rise has been accompanied by a reputation for positive energy and playmaking.
He will pair with sophomore forward Aiden Sherrell to form one of the biggest frontcourts in the Big Ten, giving the Hoosiers a tangible presence near the basket and the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting.
