Kickoff Set for Samford‑UAB Clash
The Bulldogs will host the Blazers at Protective Stadium on October 3, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The contest represents the second meeting between the two programs, the first of which dates back to 1992.
That earlier encounter, played when UAB still competed in Division III, ended in a 49‑3 victory for Samford, a result that still stands as a memorable milestone in the series.
This time the game will be streamed live on ESPN+, giving fans across the country a chance to follow the action as the Bulldogs look to build on their early‑season momentum.
The matchup also marks a symbolic transition for Samford football, as the 2026 season will officially open under head coach John Grass, who was named the program’s 37th head coach on Dec. 4, 2025.
Grass, who arrived after a distinguished coaching career, inherits a roster eager to prove itself, and the upcoming game serves as a first test of his vision for the program.
