Samuel Singleton Jr. Earns ACC Receiver of the Week After Historic Versatile Display

The Florida State backfield standout becomes the first non‑wide receiver to win the award since 2012, highlighting his all‑purpose impact.

Florida State’s Samuel Singleton Jr. was recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference as its Receiver of the Week after a Week 0 showing that blended rushing, receiving and special‑teams impact.

A Historic Recognition

The sophomore contributed 54 receiving yards and a four‑yard touchdown catch just before halftime, his first collegiate reception, and added 42 rushing yards and a two‑yard score in the third quarter.

His all‑purpose yardage of 164 topped the nation for the week, and his 34‑yard average on kickoff returns placed him at the top of the league, including a 46‑yard return that stood as the longest since a 95‑yard touchdown against Duke in 2024.

The ACC highlighted the rarity of a non‑wide receiver earning the weekly honor, noting that Singleton’s dual‑threat role had not been seen since 2012.

Coach Mike Norvell praised the player’s adaptability, saying his ability to shift between backfield positions gives the Seminoles a flexible weapon around quarterback Ashton Daniels.

Singleton’s performance also earned him ACC Specialist of the Week for his kickoff work, underscoring the comprehensive nature of his contribution to the team’s early‑season success.
