The San Jose Sharks announced a new community initiative that will take place this summer, bringing professional women’s hockey players to three California cities for a series of interactive events. The "Pro Women's Hockey Summer Tour" is scheduled for May 30 in San Jose, June 20 in Oakland and August 14 in Fresno, offering a unique opportunity for aspiring young athletes to learn from some of the sport’s rising stars.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Featuring PWHL standouts Aerin Frankel, Brooke Bryant and Kelly‑Ann Nadeau, the tour is designed to showcase elite talent while emphasizing skill development and sportsmanship. Each stop will include on‑ice sessions that focus on fundamental techniques, followed by off‑ice question and answer periods where the players share personal insights and answer questions from participants.
The program targets children between the ages of eight and fourteen, a demographic the Sharks hope will benefit from early exposure to high‑level competition and mentorship. Organizers have structured the clinics to blend technical drills with fun challenges, ensuring that participants not only improve their game but also enjoy a supportive and inclusive environment.
Beyond the rink, the tour underscores the Sharks’ commitment to growing hockey in under‑represented communities throughout California. By partnering with local rinks and youth organizations, the initiative aims to remove barriers to participation and foster a love for the sport that extends beyond the ice.
