A double-digit triumph
Tyler Jones was the catalyst for Sandwich’s 15-0 victory over Abington in a state tournament matchup, delivering a masterful performance on the mound and at the plate.
On the hill, Jones tossed seven innings, striking out ten batters while surrendering only four hits, a display of consistency that left the opposition scrambling.
At the batter’s box he added three hits, drove in three runs and doubled twice, helping the Blue Knights jump out to an early lead with a three-RBI double.
Morrison's comeback story
Coach Brian Tomasini highlighted Jones’s competitiveness, noting that his impact extended beyond statistics and helped set the tone for the team.
The win also carried a personal narrative for Luke Morrison, who continued to play the entire season despite a torn ACL suffered in the first practice.
Morrison, a left-field starter for the Blue Knights, contributed a sacrifice bunt in the second inning and later walked with the bases loaded to score a run in the sixth, underscoring his willingness to contribute in any role.
His physical therapist facilitated his return, and Morrison said he has no second thoughts about playing through the injury, a stance that has inspired teammates.
Tomasini said Morrison’s perseverance has been an inspiration, and the senior’s presence has been a rallying point for the squad as they chase deeper tournament runs.
