Santa Margarita Catholic High School, long regarded as one of California’s premier football programs, has just released its 2026 schedule, a slate that promises to test the defending state champions against some of the nation’s toughest competition.
The announcement comes after the team capped the 2025 season with a championship, and the new calendar lists marquee matchups against traditional powerhouses such as Mater Dei and St. John Bosco.
A demanding road ahead
The opening contest will pit the Eagles against Orlando (Fla.) Jones, and the entire slate is anchored by the competitive Trinity League, which continues to be a proving ground for top talent.
Beyond the local rivals, the schedule stretches across state lines, featuring contests against programs from Florida, Texas and other football‑rich regions, underscoring the team’s national ambition.
While the full slate, including kickoff times and broadcast details, will be unveiled in the coming weeks, coaches and players alike are already preparing for a season that could further cement the school’s recent dominance.
