Scituate High School's football program is gearing up to protect the Division 4 Super Bowl crown it captured last year, a feat that has set the bar for a community that lives and breathes the sport.
A title defense on the horizon
Head coach Herb Devine will usher in a new era at the helm of the offense, promoting a fresh starting quarterback after Jonny Donovan’s departure to Pomona‑Pitzer College in California.
The centerpiece of the squad remains star running back Grayson Foley, who burst onto the scene with 1,600 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns last season and earned Patriot League Fisher Division MVP honors.
The offseason saw the program graduate 14 seniors, prompting Devine to blend youthful talent with the returning stalwarts, a mix that could prove decisive as the schedule unfolds.
The road ahead
The 2026 slate features a gauntlet of opponents, including traditional rivals Duxbury, Norwell, Marblehead, Plymouth South, Quincy, Pembroke, North Quincy, Hanover and a Thanksgiving showdown with Hingham.
Fans and alumni alike are already marking their calendars, hopeful that the blend of experience and new blood will keep the Sailors competitive in every contest.
With the season still months away, the team is already in the weight room, studying film and building chemistry, a routine that coach Devine says will be key to sustaining momentum.
