Celebrating a 14‑year Southern Miss legacy and the upcoming Hall of Fame Banquet in Chicago

A Hall of Fame Career

The American Baseball Coaches Association announced that Scott Berry will be inducted into its Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2027, a testament to two decades of excellence on the collegiate diamond.

Berry’s 14‑year tenure at Southern Miss reshaped the Golden Eagles into a perennial powerhouse, delivering 528 victories, nine NCAA Tournament berths and two Super Regional appearances while securing five regular‑season conference titles and five tournament championships.

Before arriving in Hattiesburg, Berry coached Meridian Community College from 1997 to 2000, guiding the program to two NJCAA World Series appearances and compiling 185 wins, a period that laid the foundation for his later success.

His coaching brilliance earned him Conference USA Coach of the Year honors four times and produced seven consecutive seasons with at least 40 wins, underscoring his sustained impact on the program.

Beyond the win column, Berry mentored 16 All‑America players, including the 2017 national Freshman of the Year, Matt Wallner, and the 2018 national Pitcher of the Year, Nick Sandlin, highlighting his role in developing future talent.

The Hall of Fame Banquet for the Class of 2027 will be held on January 8 in Chicago, and tickets for the event will go on sale to the public on September 1, offering fans a chance to celebrate Berry’s legacy alongside other baseball luminaries.
