Scott Berry, a longtime architect of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, was recently welcomed into the 2027 American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame class, a testament to his enduring impact on college baseball.

The ceremony also honored six fellow coaches — Stu Fritz, Tim Mead, Rich Price, Beauford Sanders, Brian Shoop and Dave Van Horn — who have each shaped the sport through decades of mentorship and strategic innovation.
Berry’s 14‑year tenure at Southern Miss produced 528 victories, nine NCAA tournament appearances and an extraordinary run of seven consecutive 40‑win seasons, a benchmark that placed him among the most consistent coaches in the nation.
A Legacy of Winning
Current Southern Miss head coach Christian Ostrander has extended the program’s streak to ten straight 40‑win seasons, underscoring the continuity of excellence that Berry helped establish and that continues to drive the team’s competitiveness.
Beyond the numbers, Berry’s influence is evident in the development of players and assistants who have gone on to successful careers of their own, reinforcing his role as a catalyst for growth within the collegiate baseball community.
