A Legendary Career
Scott Berry, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, spent 14 years at the helm of the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, compiling 528 victories and guiding the program to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Under his leadership the team captured five regular‑season conference titles and five conference tournament championships, while earning Conference USA Coach of the Year honors four times.
From Junior College to the National Stage
Before arriving at Southern Miss, Berry coached Meridian Community College from 1997 to 2000, leading the team to two NJCAA World Series appearances. His early success laid the foundation for a career that would later see him mentor 16 All‑America players, including 2017 Freshman of the Year Matt Wallner and 2018 Pitcher of the Year Nick Sandlin.
Hall of Fame Banquet Details
The American Baseball Coaches Association will induct Berry as part of its Class of 2027 during a banquet scheduled for January 8 in Chicago. Tickets for the event go on sale September 1, offering fans a chance to celebrate Berry alongside fellow inductees such as Stu Fritz, Tim Mead, Ritch Price, Beauford Sanders, Brian Shoop, Dave Van Horn, and many others.
