Georgia Tech’s men’s basketball coach Scott Cross welcomed a crowd of high school teams and individual prospects to his first summer camp on Saturday, marking a milestone in his early tenure and setting the tone for an aggressive recruiting push.
A camp that signals a new recruiting era
The event attracted squads from across Georgia and even Charles Henderson High School in Alabama, while a handful of elite prospects — including Deshawn Dillon, a two‑sport standout, and four‑star guard Chase Lumpkin — took the opportunity to tour the campus and test the facilities.
Among the standout visitors was AJ Williams, the top‑ranked player in the 2028 class, who arrived with a full slate of offers from programs nationwide, and Bryson Jatta, a teammate of Lumpkin who had previously earned a Tech scholarship.
The camp also featured Bobby Harpring, son of former Yellow Jackets star Matt Harpring, adding a family legacy to the mix, while Wes Flanigan, the new Tech assistant, was credited with recruiting Dillon during his time at Ole Miss.
Beyond individual names, the showcase underscored the breadth of talent in the region, with players like MJ Curry, Baer Bailey and Jaden McCullough joining the drill, and it highlighted the potential for future commitments as the coaching staff evaluates the next wave of recruits.
