A Season of Transition
Scott Drew entered the 2025‑26 campaign without the core that had defined Baylor’s recent successes, after the program lost its entire roster. The offseason saw the addition of Michael Rataj, Dan Skillings and Obi Agbim, yet the team still missed the NCAA Tournament.
Nevertheless, Drew managed to retain seven key pieces, among them Isaac Williams and Juslin Bodo Bodo, the latter a two‑time Defensive Player of the Year in the Big South. Returning redshirt players Andre Iguodala II, Maikcol Perez and Mayo Soyoye also rejoined the squad.
The coaching staff bolstered the roster with transfer‑portal acquisitions Brett Decker Jr., Isaac Celiscar, Kayden Mingo and Evan Chatman. The incoming 2026 class brings five‑star prospect Dylan Mingo and explosive athlete Elijah Williams, son of NBA coach Monty Williams, who is expected to see significant playing time.
Drew has voiced a clear desire to avoid another full‑scale rebuild, emphasizing that retaining talent is essential for a swift return to the NCAA Tournament and for restoring Baylor’s competitive edge.
