Scottsbluff to Host Inaugural 3‑on‑3 Basketball Festival

Scottsbluff city leaders have given the green light to close a portion of Broadway for a new three‑on‑three basketball festival scheduled for later this summer. The event, called Project 308 Hoopla, will transform the downtown corridor into a vibrant playground for young athletes.

Organized by Trey Winkler, the one‑day tournament is designed for children from third grade through twelfth grade. Twelve temporary basketball courts will be erected alongside food trucks, live music and a variety of family‑friendly activities, creating a festive atmosphere that officials hope will draw visitors into the heart of the city.

Winkler projects that as many as 64 teams, representing roughly 400 to 500 participants, will attend the July 25th inaugural event. The organizers envision the festival becoming an annual summer tradition that not only showcases local talent but also stimulates business for nearby merchants.

Beyond the competition, the festival aims to strengthen community ties by providing a safe, engaging environment for families. City officials say the gathering could serve as a model for future downtown activations, encouraging foot traffic and supporting the local economy during the summer months.
