Kraken's Summer Outreach
The Seattle Kraken made a splash this summer by traveling to Anchorage, Alaska, where they spent a day at the Anchorage Hockey Academy Summer Camp. The visit brought the excitement of professional hockey to roughly 150 youngsters, many of whom are still mastering the basics of the game.
The camp, which runs during the offseason, blends on‑ice drills with a variety of outdoor activities such as swimming, soccer, pickleball and Frisbee, creating a well‑rounded experience that keeps the kids engaged and active.
Development coach David Min, who accompanied the team, described the event as a highlight of the Kraken’s annual community calendar. “The energy at the camp is infectious,” Min said. “It’s a chance to give back, to show these kids that hockey can be part of their lives no matter where they are.”
Beyond the drills, the players and staff emphasized the importance of fostering a love for the sport early on. By mixing skill work with fun, the camp aims to plant seeds that may grow into lifelong participation, whether as players, coaches or fans.
