A Return to Music City
The Southeastern Conference has confirmed that its flagship football media days will make a comeback in Nashville next summer, with the gathering scheduled for July 12‑15, 2027. The event will serve as the official launchpad for the 2026 college‑football season, gathering coaches and players from all 14 member schools under one roof.
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey made the announcement during this year’s media days in Tampa, Florida, underscoring the conference’s desire to rotate the event across major market cities. “We’re excited to bring the energy of Music City back to the forefront,” Sankey said, recalling the 2023 edition that convened at the Grand Hyatt in Nashville.
A Rotating Tradition
The 2027 edition marks the latest chapter in a peripatetic history that saw the media days travel from a long‑standing home in Birmingham, Alabama, to Atlanta, Nashville, Dallas and Tampa since 2018. Prior to 2018, the gathering had never ventured outside the Birmingham metro area, cementing its reputation as a regional fixture.
Organizers say the Nashville stop will blend the city’s vibrant music culture with the pageantry of college football, offering fans a unique backdrop as they meet the players who will shape the upcoming campaign. The schedule promises a series of press conferences, interviews and behind‑the‑scenes access that will give journalists and supporters alike a first look at the teams’ storylines.
Beyond the spectacle, the event serves a practical purpose: it provides a concentrated platform for media, sponsors and fans to engage with the sport’s leading figures at a pivotal moment in the calendar. As the SEC continues to expand its footprint, the decision to return to Nashville reflects both tradition and a strategic push to diversify the conference’s preseason presence.
