At the heart of the design is a mechanism capable of tracking up to one million hours — a scale far beyond ordinary watch functions. Five concentric discs gradually reveal larger numerals, each representing a progressively greater span of time, turning the watch face into a visual chronicle of endurance.
Engineering the Star Timer
The case, forged from lightweight titanium, measures 41.8 mm in diameter and stands over 17.4 mm tall, giving the watch a substantial presence on the wrist without sacrificing comfort. Diamond‑set zero‑hour markers add a touch of brilliance, while an oversized “17” pays homage to Ohtani’s jersey number, embedding personal symbolism into the engineering.
Shinji Hattori, the project’s lead designer, worked closely with the athlete to ensure that every aesthetic choice resonated with Ohtani’s vision.
