Eastern Michigan University announced this week that Selana Ickes will join the Eagles' women's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach, bringing a decade‑long record of success to the program.
Ickes arrives after a distinguished tenure at Malone University, where she compiled a 143‑87 overall record, guided the Lady Pioneers to three 20‑plus win seasons and two NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, and helped the team secure a program‑best nine‑game road winning streak.
Her teams consistently ranked among the nation’s most efficient offenses, posting top‑tier percentages in three‑point shooting and field‑goal accuracy, while also excelling in rebounding and assist ratios.
A Proven Builder
During her five seasons at Malone, Ickes posted a 21‑10 record in her fifth year, earned the program’s first at‑large NCAA Division II bid, and was recognized by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a second‑team honor in 2013‑14. Her coaching journey also includes a graduate assistantship at Tiffin University and a stint as an assistant under Rick Tice at Malone.
Expressing enthusiasm for the new role, Ickes said she is eager to contribute to the Eagles' growth and to help the program reach new heights.
The move underscores Eastern Michigan's commitment to strengthening its women's basketball program, a team that has already seen standout performances from players such as Erin Kaufman, who earned NCAA Division II First Team All‑America honors, and Brooklyn Troyer, a top‑ranked three‑point shooter in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
With Ickes on board, the Eagles look to build on recent successes and pursue their own record‑setting seasons in the competitive Mid‑American conference.
