Seth Trimble, a former North Carolina Tar Heel, has officially signed a free‑agent contract with the Washington Wizards, marking the next step in his basketball journey after an undrafted entry into the NBA draft.
From College Standout to Professional Aspirant
During his senior season at UNC, Trimble helped the Tar Heels compile a 96‑44 record while contributing 971 points, 361 rebounds and 168 assists over his collegiate career. He capped that run with All‑ACC Honorable Mention honors after averaging 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Though he fell short of the 1,000‑point milestone due to injury setbacks, Trimble’s shooting efficiency remained solid, hitting 45.2% from the field, 29.4% beyond the arc and 71.5% on free throws. His career‑high 30‑point outing against Louisville and an 8‑assist performance in the ACC Tournament showcase moments of brilliance.
Summer Trials and Workout Sessions
Before landing the Wizards deal, Trimble tested himself at the Portsmouth Invitational and participated in workouts with several NBA franchises. Those sessions gave him exposure to league scouts and allowed him to demonstrate the versatility that coaches value.
The Wizards’ decision reflects a calculated gamble: a player who brings a blend of shooting accuracy, defensive instincts and rebounding grit, all of which could bolster the team’s depth as they look to reshape their roster.
Trimble’s path underscores the unpredictable nature of professional basketball, where undrafted prospects can still carve out roles through perseverance, strategic exposure and a willingness to adapt.
