The San Jose Sharks announced this week that Jeff Kealty will join the franchise as their new assistant general manager, a move that underscores the club’s intent to blend fresh perspective with proven expertise.
Kealty arrives after eight seasons spent in Nashville, where he served as assistant general manager and director of scouting, overseeing a drafting pipeline that produced standout talents such as Yaroslav Askarov, Roman Josi and others.
His stewardship of the Predators’ drafts, which includes the recent selections of Luke Evangelista, Samuel Girard and Kevin Fiala, has drawn praise for its strategic depth, and his role in the team’s 18‑year draft history highlights a rare continuity in player development.
Beyond club duties, Kealty’s stint as general manager of Team USA during the 2025 World Championships culminated in a gold‑medal victory, a triumph achieved alongside current Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky and cementing his reputation on the international stage.
The hiring also rekindles a Boston University connection, as Kealty and Sharks general manager Mike Grier once shared the ice as teammates from 1994 to 1996, a shared collegiate background that adds a personal dimension to their professional collaboration.
Kealty will replace Ryane Clowe in the role, taking charge of the professional scouting staff and working closely with GM Mike Grier to shape the roster’s future, while Tom Holy and Joe Will round out the trio of assistant general managers.
