Shawn Savage has been appointed head coach of the Greenwood boys basketball team, taking the reins of a program that has already demonstrated regional competitiveness.
Savage arrives after eight seasons as an assistant on the Bowling Green High School varsity staff, a tenure that included a state championship game appearance in 2025 and gave him an intimate understanding of the program’s culture.
Before turning to coaching, he made his mark as a player at Bowling Green High School, where he reached the 1,000‑point milestone, and later at Campbellsville University, where he again surpassed that mark and earned induction into the school’s Hall of Fame. Most recently, he led the Bowling Green Junior High boys eighth‑grade team to a district championship.
The Greenwood varsity squad finished third in the Fourth Region last season, a result that reflects steady progress and provides a solid foundation for the new coach to build upon as he seeks deeper regional contention.
Savage stresses that every district matchup is a test of toughness, and he intends to have his players ready to perform at their best each night, knowing that success in the district is the gateway to larger ambitions.
A New Era for Greenwood Basketball
His appointment signals a continuity of ambition, blending his deep local roots with a championship pedigree that he hopes will translate into sustained success on the court and a lasting impact on the community.
