A New Era for Class B North
The Shore Conference’s Class B North division is undergoing a seismic shift as only three of last year’s members return, while four new programs step onto the field, promising fresh storylines and heightened competition.
Among the returning powers, Wall stands out as the preseason favorite. The 2025 NJSIAA sectional finalist brings back star midfielder Shane Womack, whose breakout performance in the playoffs has turned him into a focal point for opposing defenses.
Howell’s Quest for Redemption
Howell, after a disappointing 2025 campaign, is looking to rebound. The team returns eight starters, including goalkeeper Brady Murphy and a solid defensive line anchored by juniors Tommy Beurskens and Juan Maria. A more forgiving slate of opponents could help the Rebels rediscover their form.
Wall’s midfield also features Nick Herrera and Oliver Rhoades, giving the squad a blend of experience and youthful energy. Coach Mike McKeown says the group is motivated to capture its first division title since 2021, and the early schedule suggests a realistic path to that goal.
Freehold Boro, another contender, leans on returning forwards Ryan Almeida and Humberto Hernandez, complemented by sophomore Marvin Canaca and midfielder Klodian Jaku. The team’s attack appears poised to challenge for a division title that has eluded them since 2011.
Emerging Threats from Middletown North and Raritan
Middletown North brings a young nucleus, highlighted by five returning seniors such as midfielders Ryan Otero and Andrew Polanco. Goalkeeper Nick Kamnitsis will guard the net, while the defense aims to tighten up after a season of growing pains.
Raritan, despite losing top scorer Owen Brackett, retains seven starters, including midfielders Matei Cojocariu and Jaden Molina. A promising sophomore class adds depth, making the Red Raiders a dark horse.
Red Bank, under new head coach Mike O’Boyle, will rely on senior midfielder Brian Garcia, the sole returning starter, alongside Murphy Lennon. The team hopes to build on a successful 2025 stint at Freehold Township.
The competitive balance of the division hinges on Wall’s ability to dominate and Howell’s roster depth, but the influx of Asbury Park and Raritan adds an element of unpredictability that could reshape the standings as the season unfolds.
