Washington College’s women’s soccer program celebrated a milestone as its Shorewomen Soccer squad was honored with the 2025 Team Academic Award by United Soccer Coaches, a distinction that underscores the team’s commitment to scholarly achievement as much as athletic prowess.
Academic Honor Squad Criteria
The award formed part of a record 777 recognitions handed out by the coaches’ association this year, with 451 of those honors going to women’s soccer programs alone. To earn a place on the Academic Honor Squad, a team must post a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 across the academic year, a benchmark that the Shorewomen exceeded.
During the 2025‑26 academic year the Shorewomen posted a collective GPA of 3.70, placing them among an elite group of programs within the Centennial Conference that includes Bryn Mawr, Haverford, Johns Hopkins, McDaniel, Muhlenberg and Swarthmore. The conference’s competitive balance makes the academic distinction all the more noteworthy.
