Shreveport United Secures Dual National Championships
Two Shreveport United youth squads have brought national attention to Louisiana by capturing back‑to‑back championship titles in different age groups. The girls’ under‑19 side lifted the US Youth U19 National Championship in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, while the boys’ under‑14 team secured the US Club U14 crown in Commerce City, Colorado.
The victorious girls’ campaign featured a potent offense that netted fourteen goals across the tournament, conceding only a single strike. In the championship match, the Louisiana side edged out Idaho’s TF Rapids SC U19G by a 3‑1 margin, with early strikes from Stella Zippert and Gabi Hamic setting the tone before Baleigh Ware sealed the victory.
Boys’ U14 Squad Overcomes Challenges
The boys’ run was marked by resilience, as they posted two clean‑sheet group‑stage outings before breaking a 4‑2 deadlock against Idaho Slammers FC in the final group game. They then defeated Carolina Football Club Swarm in a 3‑1 final, highlighted by goals from Jackson Watkins and Cole Quinlan, while keeper Mason Minor contributed an assist on the decisive play.
Both triumphs underscore the growing soccer infrastructure in Shreveport and reflect the dedication of coaches, families and the players themselves. The championships also placed the city on the map as a breeding ground for talent that will soon compete on even larger stages.
