A Season to Remember
The 2026 boys soccer campaign for Siegel High School will be remembered as one of the most dominant in recent memory. Senior midfielder Zack Arradi, a transfer from Stewarts Creek, capped his high school career by being named Player of the Year on The Daily News Journal's 2026 all‑area team. Arradi finished the season with 13 goals and 22 assists, orchestrating an offense that helped the Stars capture three consecutive titles.
Siegel's boys program swept the District 8, Region 4 and AAA sectional championships, a feat that underscored the team's depth and cohesion. The Stars' defensive unit, anchored by captain Dominic Ordonez, allowed only seven goals in 8‑AAA play and just 26 for the entire season, while goalkeeper Myles Weaver posted 132 saves and four shutouts.
Offensive firepower was spread across the roster. Giovanni Nava led the attack with 19 goals and nine assists, earning 8‑AAA Offensive MVP honors, while Michel Mambwe contributed 16 goals and five assists. Landon Lifferth of Stewarts Creek, the 7‑AAA Player of the Year, tallied 22 goals and 17 assists, but it was Arradi's all‑around impact that set the tone for the champions.
Coach of the Year
John DeValk, the mastermind behind Siegel's historic run, was honored as Coach of the Year after guiding the Stars to the Class AAA state tournament semifinals for the first time in program history. DeValk's strategic adjustments and emphasis on disciplined defending turned a talented squad into a championship machine.
The season also highlighted standout performances from midfielders Rafael Albuquerque of Rockvale, who recorded 11 goals and 16 assists, and Will Clark of Central Magnet, named District 8‑AA MVP with 13 goals and five assists. Defender Jackson Lush earned 8‑AAA Defensive MVP, while Riverdale's Myles Weaver was recognized as Goalkeeper of the Year.
With a blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent, Siegel's 2026 team not only captured multiple titles but also set a new standard for future generations. The legacy of Arradi, DeValk and their teammates will linger in the program's history, promising even greater ambitions ahead.
