The 2026 boys soccer season will be remembered as one of the most successful in Siegel High School history, as the Stars compiled a string of victories that culminated in a berth at the Class AAA state tournament semifinals.
Senior midfielder Zack Arradi, a transfer from Stewarts Creek, emerged as the centerpiece of the campaign, earning the prestigious Player of the Year award for his 13 goals and 22 assists.
A Transfer That Changed the Fortunes
Arradi's move to Siegel brought immediate impact, guiding the team through District 8 and Region 4 play and delivering the club's first sectional championship in years.
The Stars' defensive backbone, anchored by Dominic Ordonez and Jao Vongsavath, allowed just seven goals in 8-AAA competition and only 26 for the entire season, providing the platform for Arradi's creative spark.
Offensive Firepower Across the Roster
Supporting Arradi, Giovanni Nava contributed 19 goals and nine assists to claim 8-AAA Offensive MVP honors, while Michel Mambwe added 16 goals and five assists. Zach Cha's two goals and two assists helped fuel a high‑scoring offense that overwhelmed opponents.
Other standout performers included Landon Lifferth of Stewarts Creek, who was named 7-AAA Player of the Year with 22 goals and 17 assists, and Rafael Albuquerque of Rockvale, who tallied 11 goals and 16 assists to lead his Rockets to the sectional.
Defensive Excellence and Goalkeeping
Between the posts, Myles Weaver of Riverdale posted 132 saves and four shutouts, earning 8-AAA Goalkeeper of the Year recognition.
The collective effort of the back line and midfield not only secured victories but also set the stage for a deep run in the state tournament.
Coach John DeValk's Milestone
Under the guidance of Coach John DeValk, the Stars captured their third state tournament appearance in four seasons, a testament to his consistent leadership and strategic acumen, earning him the Coach of the Year honor from the Daily News Journal.
