Siena Basketball Marks Fifth Annual Court Revitalization with Ice Cream Social
Siena’s men’s and women’s basketball programs are set to host their fifth consecutive summer court‑rehabilitation celebration on July 30 in Albany, New York. The free event, which requires an RSVP by July 27, will bring together players, coaches, alumni and local partners for a day of community engagement.
Presented by Luizzi Companies, the gathering will feature remarks from head coaches Nevada Smith and Terry Primm, who will speak about the upcoming 2026‑27 seasons. Smith’s men’s squad aims to defend its conference championship, while Primm’s women’s team returns four starters, including reigning Rookie of the Year Francesca Schiro.
Attendees will receive a complimentary ticket for ice cream from a local vendor, a sweet reminder of the event’s festive atmosphere. The ceremony will also formally dedicate the renovated court and unveil its official name, a tradition that began five years ago with the Lansing Park court in Cohoes.
Previous beneficiary courts include those at Cheryl’s Lodge in Clifton Park, the George Street Basketball Court in Green Island and Girls, Inc. of the Greater Capital Region in Schenectady, each receiving upgrades through collaborations with partners such as Dicks House of Sport and Grasshopper Heating and Cooling.
Siena Athletics emphasizes that these projects embody its mission to “Build Better Saints” and reflect the College’s Franciscan values, reinforcing a commitment to community service that extends beyond the hardwood.
The 2026‑27 basketball seasons are already generating excitement, with season tickets now on sale and full schedules slated for release later this summer. The event serves as a preview of the energy and talent expected on the court.
