Sioux Falls Neighborhood Soccer Joins YMCA as Official Program
The Sioux Falls Family YMCA, in partnership with Empower Sioux Falls, has announced that Sioux Falls Neighborhood Soccer will officially become part of the YMCA’s youth sports offerings. The collaboration marks a significant step toward securing the program’s future and expanding its reach within the community.
Under the new arrangement, the initiative will be known as YMCA Neighborhood Soccer and will serve children in grades two through five. Participants will receive free soccer balls, shin guards, uniforms, professional coaching and a weekly nutritious meal, removing financial barriers that have historically limited access to organized sport.
Program leaders say the integration into the YMCA framework provides a stable foundation for long‑term growth. By embedding the soccer program within a broader network of youth services, the partners hope to create a sustainable model that can be replicated in other neighborhoods across the region.
The effort is part of a larger mission to close the opportunity gap for youngsters who might otherwise miss out on the physical, social and developmental benefits of team sports. Organizers emphasize that the combination of equipment, instruction and nourishment is designed to foster not only athletic skill but also confidence and community connection.
