A New Chapter for the Nanooks
The University of Alaska Fairbanks announced today that guard Siri Lindsey has officially joined the Alaska Nanooks women's basketball program, bringing a blend of tenacity and scoring prowess to the team.
A 5‑3 point guard from Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon, Lindsey arrives after a standout prep career that saw her earn three selections to the Portland Interscholastic League and an honorable mention on the Oregon All‑State team.
During her senior season she averaged 19 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists per game, while shooting 35.2 percent from beyond the arc, numbers that caught the eye of head coach Michael Ricks.
Ricks described Lindsey as a high‑energy player whose toughness, competitiveness and confidence should translate well to the collegiate level, adding that her work ethic aligns with the program’s standards.
Lindsey expressed excitement about the move, saying she looks forward to growing as a player in Fairbanks and contributing to the Nanooks’ pursuit of excellence.
What This Means for the Program
Coach Ricks believes Lindsey’s arrival could accelerate the team’s development, providing a spark on both ends of the floor and helping the Nanooks compete more fiercely in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
With Lindsey on board, the Alaska Nanooks look poised to blend youthful vigor with seasoned leadership, setting the stage for an exciting campaign ahead.
