Overtime triumph over Mountain View
The Skyridge Falcons finally broke through the early-season slump, securing their first victory of the campaign in dramatic fashion. In a tightly contested overtime clash with the 6A defending champion Mountain View, Cambri Condie struck twice, finishing off a perfect passing move set up by Bentley Knight and Mollie Lund. Coach Jhoan Alvizo praised the team’s composure under pressure, noting that the win marked a turning point after a slow start to the season.
The momentum carried into a tightly contested home match against Syracuse, where the Falcons edged a 4-3 result. Goals from Lexi Blood, Lily Boren and Condie underscored a resilient attack that refused to back down despite a late surge from the visitors.
Learning from a tough loss
A previous 5-1 setback against Davis offered a sobering lesson, but the solitary goal scored by Condie demonstrated that the team could still find the net against stronger opposition. Alvizo emphasized that the experience would fuel improvement as the schedule progresses.
Looking ahead, the Falcons are set to open region play on September 1 against Lehi. With preseason battles against quality teams like Mountain View and Syracuse already in the books, Alvizo believes the squad is ready to translate early gains into a competitive edge when the regional slate begins.
