Sleepy Eye captured the Minnesota American Legion Senior Division II district title with a 4‑0 shutout over St. James, earning the right to represent their region at the state tournament.
Pipestone American Legion Post No. 6 saw its tournament run end in the Southwest Substate after defeats to Springfield and Mankato Loyola, with Luka Quist drawing two walks and scoring twice while Zayne Zollner delivered an RBI and tossed a complete game.
The state championship is scheduled for July 31 through August 2 in Minnewaska, where the winning squad will join other district champions in pursuit of the title.
Standout Players
Quist’s on‑base discipline and Zollner’s two‑way effort highlighted the weekend’s action, underscoring the depth of talent across the competing posts.
Mankato Loyola’s 2‑0 victory over Pipestone pushed the latter into the elimination bracket, while Russell‑Tyler‑Ruthton’s junior team was eliminated early in its own divisional play.
With the tournament field now set, coaches and players alike are turning their focus to the upcoming games, hoping to translate district success into a state crown.
