Slippery Rock University’s men’s soccer squad opened the 2026 campaign with a 0‑0 draw against D’Youville University, marking the fourth straight season opener that ended in a win or a tie.

Opening Day Highlights

Despite the stalemate, the Rock posted a 16‑3 advantage in total shots, including a 6‑3 edge in shots on goal, and secured a 5‑4 margin in corner kicks.

Aashi Pandher led the offensive effort with four attempts and two on target, while Patrick Tierney and Kaden Reynolds each added two shots of their own.

The match also introduced several first‑year players, among them Christopher Merrill, Boele Zwartele, Gabin Lonjard, Fynn Uebele, Javier Garrido Burgos, Caleb Alldredge and Tom Roantree, who made their Slippery Rock debuts.

In goal, Troy Nine posted three saves, tying a career high, while D’Youville’s Matthew Solorio stopped all six shots on target.

The team will next travel to face Walsh University on September 6 at 6 p.m., looking to build on the unbeaten start.
