A Strategic Addition for the Cowgirls
The Oklahoma State women's basketball program has announced the addition of Mojca Jelenc, a 6‑foot‑3 center whose reputation as a defensive anchor and versatile scorer has made her one of the most coveted European prospects in recent years.
Jelenc honed her game across several top leagues, most recently spending the 2025‑26 season on loan from Valencia Basket to UNI Gyor in Hungary's A‑Division, where she posted 11.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest. Prior to that, she contributed 7.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for La Corda de Paterna, Valencia's developmental affiliate, and began her professional journey with Cinkarna Celje in Slovenia's premier women's league, averaging double‑digit scoring in three of her four seasons there.
Internationally, Jelenc has been a mainstay for Slovenia's youth squads, competing at the U16 and U20 FIBA European Championships, and she played a pivotal role in the senior team's qualification for the FIBA EuroBasket Championships after her debut in 2023. In the 2023 qualifiers she averaged 9.2 points and 5.0 rebounds, and she later appeared in three games of the 2025 EuroBasket, logging 3.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
Veteran Jacie Hoyt expressed enthusiasm about the new addition, saying the team is eager to integrate Jelenc's defensive intensity into the upcoming schedule.
Looking Ahead to the New Season
With Jelenc now on the roster, Oklahoma State aims to translate her European experience into on‑court success, targeting a stronger showing in the Big 12 conference and a deeper run in the NCAA tournament. The coaching staff believes her ability to protect the rim while handling the ball could reshape the team's defensive identity.
