A Blistering Showdown
The 2026 FaithFest 250 unfolded under a scorching sun that turned the North Wilkesboro Speedway into a furnace, testing the endurance of drivers and crews alike.
Chandler Smith, starting from the middle of the pack, seized the lead on lap 152 after a pit‑road restart and never relinquished it, cruising to victory 8.479 seconds ahead of his teammate Layne Riggs.
Riggs had earlier captured the opening stage and led 25 laps, but the extreme heat and a strategic tire call left him unable to match Smith’s pace in the final stage.
The race ran without a caution for the last 99 laps, allowing Smith to build a commanding lead while the rest of the field battled fading grip.
The result tightened the Chase picture, with Stewart Friesen and Tyler Ankrum locked in a points tie for the final berth, adding urgency to the upcoming events.
Shane van Gisbergen claimed third, matching his best oval performance in a national series, while Carson Hocevar’s early lead evaporated after a cut left‑front tire dropped him to 27th.
Christian Eckes and Landen Lewis rounded out the top five, completing a race that will be remembered for its blistering temperatures and strategic mastery.
