A top‑five start fuels expectations
The Mustangs opened the season with a commanding 4‑0 victory over No. 4 Saint Louis, a performance that propelled them ten spots up the United Soccer Coaches rankings to No. 5. The win showcased a balanced attack, a dominant midfield presence and a clean sheet that underscored the defensive cohesion cultivated under Head Coach Kevin Hudson.
Mukisa Emmanuel and Milton Lopez each contributed two goals, while Jaylinn Mitchell’s creativity shone through two assists and a earned penalty that set up Emmanuel’s second strike. Stephan Soghomonian and Noah Holmstrøm, both named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, add depth and experience to a squad that blends 17 returning players with 15 fresh faces, including the 2025 Sun Belt Defender of the Year.
