Camp Overview
Two SMU women's soccer standouts, Brooke Bunton and Kamiya Beck, have been selected for the United States U-18 Women's National Team training camp that will run from June 25 through July 3 in Fayetteville, Georgia.
The camp brings together eleven college players, with both the University of North Carolina and SMU contributing multiple athletes to the roster, underscoring the Mustangs' growing influence in the national pipeline.
Eligibility for the upcoming 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup extends to players born on or after January 1, 2006, placing both Bunton and Beck within a prime age bracket as they eye a future tournament berth.
Looking Ahead
Bunton, now in her fourth call-up to the U-18 program this year and the fifth of her career, also captained the side during a dominant 8‑0 victory over Sweden's U-18 side in Spain, a match that highlighted the team's depth.
Beck, marking her second appearance with the U-18 squad, helped the United States secure the Pinatar Cup 2026 earlier this spring, contributing to wins that included a 6‑0 triumph over Hungary's U-19 team.
The training camp serves as a crucial evaluation period for the coaching staff, who will use the sessions to shape the roster that could eventually compete on the world stage.
Beyond individual accolades, the presence of SMU representatives reflects the program's commitment to developing talent that can compete internationally, a narrative that aligns with the university's broader athletic ambitions.
