Snohomish County Teams Secure National Flag Football Berths

Cougars, Hustlers and Footballers win regional tournaments, setting sights on Indiana championship

Three youth flag football teams representing Snohomish County have captured regional crowns at the NFL Flag Seattle Seahawks Regional Tournament held in Everett, Wash., securing their places in the upcoming national championship.

Regional Triumphs Fuel National Hopes

The victories belong to the Mill Creek Cougars 12U Rec squad, the SnoHo Hustlers 8U Rec side, and the Mill Creek Footballers 10U Rec team, each of which will travel to Westfield, Ind., for the NFL Flag Football National Championship scheduled for July 23‑26.

The Cougars demonstrated dominance by defeating the Umatilla Parks and Rec outfit in back‑to‑back matchups, posting scores of 26‑6 and 20‑0. Their standout performance earned Mattsen Coleman the tournament’s 12U Rec Most Valuable Player honor.

All members of the Cougars are seventh‑graders who largely grew up together at Totem Falls Elementary, a fact that underscores the community‑driven foundation of the team.

Meanwhile, the Hustlers rolled past the Marysville Seahawks twice, triumphing 14‑0 and 18‑6, with Jaxson Kirkness named the 8U Rec tournament MVP.

The Footballers claimed their regional title by forfeit when their scheduled opponent failed to appear, rounding out a sweep of local teams that will now compete on the national stage.
