The 29th annual Somerset County Baseball Old‑Timers Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place recently in Stoystown, Pennsylvania, welcoming eleven new members into its storied ranks.
Honoring a Legacy of Coaching
Barry Thomas, a longtime coach whose career spans decades, took the podium to reflect on the generations of players he guided, from his father to his brother, emphasizing how the sport has shaped his family’s story.
Among the inductees, Frankie Ryan, a former player at Meyersdale and longtime umpire, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, noting the enduring passion that binds old‑timers across the county.
Celebrating Future Stars
The ceremony also spotlighted emerging talent, presenting awards to standout high school players. Colin Dinyar earned the Nathan J. Codispoti MVP Award for Conemaugh Township, while Grant Boozer received the William "Bill" Love Spirit of the Game Award and Wyatt Mosgrave captured the Walter "Gutch" Bodziak Heart of the Game Award.
Tim Doyle of Conemaugh Township was honored with the Stanley "Chief" Thomas Coach of the Year Award, capping a night that blended reverence for the past with optimism for the next generation.
Community members, players, and officials gathered to celebrate the contributions of these athletes and mentors, underscoring baseball’s continued role as a unifying force in Somerset County.
