Sooners Shine in Preseason Honors
The University of Oklahoma’s football program has announced a sweeping presence on the 2026 Preseason Coaches All-SEC Team, a testament to the depth of talent returning to the Sooners’ roster.
Placekicker Tate Sandell and defensive standout Ben Anderson both earned first-team honors, highlighting their status among the conference’s elite.
Overall, ten Sooners secured a total of thirteen slots across the coaches’ and media’s preseason lists, underscoring the breadth of the team’s impact.
Among the recognitions, Isaiah Sategna III was placed on the second team as a wide receiver, all-purpose player and return specialist, while Grayson Miller impressed with his punting consistency.
Other contributors such as Peyton Bowen, Taylor Wein, Eli Bowen, David Stone and Michael Fasusi also received second-team nods, reflecting a well-rounded squad.
Sandell’s accolades extend beyond the preseason list; he captured the 2025 Lou Groza Award and earned first-team All-American honors, having set a SEC record with 24 consecutive made field goals.
His career includes eight records, among them the most consecutive field goals in SEC history, and he finished the previous season as the league’s most reliable kicker.
The Sooners open the 2026 campaign on September 4 against UTEP before traveling to face Georgia in the SEC opener on September 26, a matchup that will test the early chemistry of a team brimming with preseason accolades.
