A Milestone Invitation
Mikah Keller and Sophie Morrow, both rising sophomores on the Penn State women's hockey team, have been selected for the 2026 USA Hockey Women's National Festival. The event, scheduled for August 2‑8 at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York, serves as a key evaluation point for the roster that will later face Canada in a highly anticipated series.
During their rookie seasons, Keller appeared in all 39 games and tallied 34 points, while Morrow also played every game and contributed 16 points. Their performances helped Penn State capture its fourth straight Atlantic Hockey America championship and secure the program's inaugural NCAA Tournament victory, culminating in a historic Frozen Four appearance at the Pegula Ice Arena.
Training Ground and Past Experience
Both athletes have a history with USA Hockey Development Camps, having attended the program twice before. This festival marks their first opportunity to represent the United States on the international stage, building on a foundation of elite development and collegiate success.
The Road Ahead
The festival will run from August 2 to August 8, after which the selected team will travel to Richmond, British Columbia, for a showdown against Canada from August 10 to August 16. The upcoming competitions represent a pivotal moment for Keller and Morrow as they transition from collegiate standouts to international contenders.
Their inclusion underscores the growing talent pipeline from Penn State's program and highlights the impact of sustained investment in women's hockey. As the athletes prepare for these critical games, the university community looks forward to cheering them on as they write the next chapter of their athletic careers.
