South Carolina’s baseball program has secured a high‑profile addition to its pitching staff, bringing in Jordan Stephens, a 6‑foot‑4 right‑handed pitcher who transferred from the University of Georgia.
Stephens arrives with a strong résumé: a 3.92 ERA and a 4‑0 record in the 2025 season, a .164 opponent batting average, and a streak in which he did not allow a run over his first six outings.
In 2024, as a true freshman, he posted a 5.03 ERA, went 4‑6 overall, struck out 113 batters in 82.1 innings, and threw three complete games, earning a reputation as a reliable starter.
A Strategic Overhaul
Coach Kevin Schnall, who has been rebuilding the roster, also announced the return of outfielder Tyler Bak and the addition of pitcher Cooper Parks, both of whom bring experience and depth to the lineup.
Bak, who appeared in 56 games last season, is expected to contribute 30 runs and lead the team with nine stolen bases, while Parks posted a 2.36 ERA and a 4‑1 record, holding opponents to a .186 batting average over just over 34 innings.
The new coaching staff also includes hitting coach Bill Cilento and pitching coach Matt Williams, each of whom has deep ties to the program and a proven track record of success. With two years of eligibility remaining for Stephens and a redshirt year in his pocket, the Gamecocks are poised to contend for a postseason spot in the coming months.
