South Carolina Baseball Overhauls Coaching Staff
The University of South Carolina's baseball program announced a sweeping overhaul of its on‑field coaching staff this week, confirming that every assistant and support coach has been let go.
Monte Lee, who had been serving as interim head coach after the previous head coach's departure, was among those dismissed, ending his brief tenure at the helm.
Pitching coach Terry Rooney and assistant coach John Hendry also received notice that their contracts would not be renewed, marking the end of their time with the team.
Nevertheless, three long‑standing staff members — Chris Gordon, Billy Anderson and Stuart Lake — will remain with the program until a permanent head coach is hired.
The university said the incoming head coach will have the final say on the status of those three, adding a layer of uncertainty as the search for a new leader continues.
Analysts suggest the shakeup reflects a desire for a fresh direction and could signal changes in recruiting strategy and player development.
