South Carolina’s baseball team is currently on a short break from portal recruiting, choosing to monitor the upcoming MLB Draft before making any definitive moves.
The program is aware that the number of players selected by professional teams will influence how many positions need to be filled for the 2027 season.
Even if several prospects are drafted, the staff has identified a couple of spots — particularly on the pitching side — that still require reinforcement.
Should the draft pass with only a few selections, the calculus for additional signings could change, but the team remains prepared to add at least another arm or two if needed.
