A New Chapter for the Gamecocks
The University of South Carolina men's basketball team is set to travel to the Bahamas for a pair of exhibition contests scheduled between August 7 and 11, marking the second consecutive summer the program will test its mettle abroad under head coach Lamont Paris.
A year ago the Gamecocks earned victories over Club Obras from Argentina and the Lithuanian side Žalgiris‑2, experiences that Paris says have helped shape a more globally aware roster.
International Experience Shapes the Squad
This summer the squad will be bolstered by the additions of Argentine forward Juan Fernandez and Spanish forward Hugo Lopez, while a wave of transfers and fresh recruits aim to lift the team out of a 13‑19 record from the previous season.
The upcoming foreign tour represents more than a schedule filler; it is a deliberate step in Paris’s strategy to blend veteran talent with new pieces as the program eyes a stronger 2026‑27 campaign.
