The pursuit, however, comes after a rare stumble in Austin, where the Gamecocks fell 64‑58, ending a 57‑game winning streak that had stretched into the 2024‑25 season. The loss served as a wake‑up call, reinforcing the need for depth and adaptability as the team moves forward.
Coach Dawn Staley and her staff have crafted a demanding slate that includes 16 SEC opponents, featuring traditional powerhouses such as Alabama, LSU, and Auburn. Early‑season road tests at Texas and Missouri are expected to be among the toughest challenges, testing the squad’s mettle before conference play fully unfolds.

The SEC Tournament in 2025‑26 ended in a heartbreak, with the Gamecocks falling to Texas in the championship game. That defeat underscores the fine margins that separate the conference’s elite, and it fuels the drive to reclaim the crown in the regular season.
