Berry speaks openly about molding young men for life beyond the gridiron, insisting that the program’s strength lies in its relational foundation. This philosophy has translated into tangible success, with the Bulldogs capturing consecutive MEAC titles and the 2025 Celebration Bowl under his leadership.
A Culture Built on Commitment
In February the roster was expanded by 41 newcomers, comprising 21 transfers and 20 high‑school signees, all selected to reinforce the team’s core values. The 2026 signing class, according to Berry, will prioritize "championship people" rather than hype, ensuring that each recruit aligns with the program’s relational ethos.
One standout product of this approach is linebacker Jordan Franklin. Arriving as a freshman, Franklin waited for his moment before emerging as a key defensive leader. In 2025 he recorded a team‑high 62 tackles and was subsequently named the MEAC’s 2026 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Berry acknowledges the financial realities of modern college football but remains steadfast in his belief that relationships provide a sustainable edge. By focusing on personal development and teamwork, the Bulldogs aim to stay ahead in a sport increasingly driven by monetary considerations.
