The South Dakota Class B amateur baseball tournament is set to run through August 16 at Cadwell Park in Mitchell, where the state’s top amateur teams vie for the championship.
Draft Highlights
During the playoffs, Elkton’s own Aidan Stewart and Charlie Harming earned spots on the Castlewood Ravens and Volga Cormorants respectively, while former Pipestone standout Bayley Colemer also joined the Cormorants roster.
The schedule features a Saturday night showdown between Castlewood and the Canova Gang at 7:30 p.m. on August 8, followed by a Friday afternoon clash where Volga takes on the Salem Cubs at 1 p.m.
Minnesota’s Regional Tournament
Across the border, Minnesota’s Region 10C Tournament saw four local players drafted to new clubs: Hadley Buttermaker to the Jackson Bulls, Tucker Sorenson to the Fairmont Martins, Lincoln Swanjord to the Luverne Redbirds and Tyler Maeyeart to the Windom Pirates.
Sorenson, who also serves as an assistant coach at Minnesota West Community & Technical College, will meet his former team in a best‑of‑three series that begins Wednesday, August 5, with Game Two scheduled for Friday, August 7 and the decisive third game on Sunday, August 9.
Windom and Luverne will contest a parallel series under the same dates, adding another layer of competition to the weekend’s slate.
Notably, no Pipestone A’s were selected in the draft, underscoring the shifting talent distribution across the region.
