The 2025 campaign ended without the postseason for Southeast Bulloch High School, finishing with a 5‑5 record that left the Eagles watching from the sidelines.
A new offensive philosophy
Jason Anthony, who spent the previous year as defensive coordinator, now steps into an interim head‑coach role as the program seeks a fresh spark. His vision calls for a more aggressive, versatile approach, emphasizing toughness, respect, effort and commitment while reshaping both sides of the ball.
The new scheme will differ markedly from the past five seasons, spreading the ball to athletic playmakers and demanding greater adaptability from the roster.
The loss of top running backs Colby Smith and Jayden Murphy, along with several linemen and the starting quarterback, has opened a vacuum that several emerging athletes are eager to fill.
Among those stepping up is Aaden Peterson, a multi‑position talent who can line up at quarterback or other spots, while rising sophomore J.K. Small is being given more opportunities to showcase his arm.
Competition is fierce; multiple quarterbacks are vying for the starting spot, and players such as Brant Horst and Peterson may see action on both offense and defense depending on game flow.
Coach Anthony has stressed that the team’s success will hinge on how quickly the newcomers can gel with returning veterans, and how the staff can maximize the athletic gifts on the roster.
The coaching staff is also focusing on character development, hoping the new culture will translate into stronger performances on the field.
