A Narrow Loss at Mt. Dew Park
Southeast Missouri Baseball traveled to Mt. Dew Park in Illinois on Tuesday afternoon and came up short, dropping a 3-2 decision to Eastern Illinois. The game was tightly contested, with both teams trading chances throughout the afternoon.
The Redhawks struck first when Dakota Joggerst delivered an RBI single to right center, bringing home Cal Sullivan and giving the visitors an early lead. The momentum shifted in the third inning as Eastern Illinois rallied for three runs, fueled by solid hitting from Ethan Rossi, Tyler Castro and Mike O'Conor.
Andrew Ramirez answered with a solo home run in the seventh inning, his second of the season, but the Redhawks could not extend the rally. Pitching was a highlight for both sides; Gavin Johnston tossed 1 1/3 innings without allowing a hit and struck out two, while Andrew Carroll worked 6 2/3 innings, fanning six batters and throwing 113 pitches.
